INTERPRETIVE RANGER PROGRAMS

MINERAL KING RANGER STATION:
Campfire programs or night walks.
Fridays and Saturdays 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday morning or afternoon walks on natural history of the area.

SILVER CITY:
Interpretive Ranger Program
Thursdays 8:15-9:00 p.m.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS: July 17 and August 7
Jim Ingram performs mining and cowboy songs.

Check bulletins at the Ranger Station, Atwell Mill and Cold Springs Campgrounds, and Silver City for schedules and subject of programs.

ATWELL MILL AND THE ALLES CABIN
Sundays:
10:00: Ranger-led walk from Atwell Mill campground to the Mill and Alles cabin
11:00 to 3:00 ALLES CABIN OPEN HOUSE: Learn about the life of Grace Alles and the Atwell Mill lumbering operation from members of the old community.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS: 4th of July and Labor Day night walks

THE FOLLOWING SPECIAL PROGRAMS ARE SCHEDULED:

FRIDAY, JULY 4TH, RANGER STATION: TALL TALES: 7:30P.M. to 8:30 p.m. Meet Ben Harris, the biggest liar in the Sierras.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, RANGER STATION: THE OLD MINERS: A CONVERSATION: 8:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Cabin Community members portray some of the old Characters of the mining era from 1873-1880.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 9: HOE-DOWN: AT THE OLD DANCE FLOOR ABOVE THE EAGLE PARKING LOT: old-fashioned square dance with caller and live music: 6:00-8:00 p.m. ALL COMERS WELCOME. Refreshments served.

To be announced: MINERAL KING THEN AND NOW: Nadean Bissiri will tell about life in Mineral King in the 1940s.

GUIDED INTERPRETIVE WALKS AND HIKES

A WALK THROUGH HISTORY:
Sundays: 10:00-11:00 a.m. Meet at the Atwell Mill Campground, Hockett Trailhead. Interpretive Ranger Alysia Schmidt will take you on a walk through history from prehistoric man to the lumbering operations of Atwell Mill.

FLOWER WALK:
To Be Announced: Meet at the Ranger Station. Bring walking shoes, hat, and water. Flora expert Nadean Bissiri will help identify Mineral King plants on the Nature Trail out of Cold Springs Campground.

Saturday, July 5: 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. EXPLORE THE WHITE CHIEF TRAIL AND ITS MINING HISTORY: Meet at the Eagle/White Chief Trail head parking lot at 9:00 a.m. Estimated time of return to parking lot 4:00 p.m. Bring good hiking shoes, hat, lunch, sun screen and lots of water. Hike is 4 miles round trip, moderate to strenuous. Historian Louise Jackson will relate stories about the landscape and history of the early 1873-74 mining era throughout the hike.

Saturday, August 16: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. THE MINERAL KING SILVER RUSH. Meet at the Ranger Station. Bring walking shoes, hat, sunscreen and water. Interpretive 2-hour tour from the Ranger Station in which Louise Jackson
